Adjust your backpack
Beckmann’s backpacks are designed so that heavy loads feel light to carry. To achieve this, it is essential that the backpack fits the child’s size and is adjusted and carried correctly. The carrying system provides good weight distribution, and in the video below, we show you how to fasten the backpack correctly.
- Place the heaviest content closest to the back.
- Tighten the shoulder straps so that the bottom of the backpack sits right above the buttocks.
- Fasten and tighten the hip belt to ensure it sits well on the hipbone.
- Adjust, fasten, and tighten the chest strap.
- Tighten the top tensioning straps.
The backpacks are developed and tested in collaboration with Chiropractor Philip J. Wilkens (PhD), who holds a doctorate in lower back pain:
«A good school backpack can prevent pain and back issues. Research indicates that the type of backpack and its weight can be risk factors for back problems. It is, therefore, important to have a backpack that can be customized individually. This is what you get with a backpack from Beckmann, which can be adjusted and tailored to each person. A good backpack must also be used correctly. The weight should be distributed between the shoulders and the hip area. At the same time, the weight in the backpack should be as close as possible to the back, and the backpack should be adjusted to fit well.»
